The Winning Try: Episodes 7–8 Recap

 Episode 7 Highlights

Ga-ram’s health is deteriorating. Despite being advised to undergo surgery for a suspected tumor, Ju Ga-ram refuses, prioritizing his team's training over his own well-being. This selfless act reframes how Bae I-ji (I-ji) perceives him, revealing his past sacrifices were intended to protect her career.

I-ji integrates into the rugby team. In a humorous turn, I-ji claims she has the "yips"—a sudden loss of motor skills—to cover for the hospital visit, resulting in her removal from coaching duties. Ga-ram steps in to help her recover, and she bonds with the players through training drills.

Ung’s hesitation under pressure. During the President’s Cup match, Hanyang takes the lead, but Ung freezes and cannot tackle—hinting at deeper emotional trauma tied to his past.

Episode 8 Highlights

Ung’s emotional breakthrough. The team supports Ung in confronting his fear. After it’s revealed his hesitation stems from accidentally injuring a bully in self-defense, the squad tracks the bully down. In a pivotal moment, Seong-jun kneels before him to demand the removal of a disparaging viral post. Through encouragement, Ung finally tackles his coach—overcoming his trauma.

I-ji discovers Ga-ram’s illness. Visiting him at the hospital, I-ji learns Ga-ram is suffering from Myasthenia Gravis and that this may tie into his earlier drug-related scandal. Her understanding of his true motives shifts, deepening their bond.

Vice principal’s mounting concern. The vice principal begins to suspect Ga-ram is hiding a serious health condition, heightening the tension between Ga-ram’s duty and his physical limits.
